
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as an attacking player. She is also the captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of professional women's soccer. From 2018 to 2020, she was co-captained America's women's national soccer squad alongside Megan Rapinoe. In the months following her graduation in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her professional debut there and was instrumental in winning the league championship. Morgan was 22 at the time and was the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goal the 123rd minute in the semi-final against Canada. She was the second player in the United States with 20 goals and 21 assists for 2012, making her the youngest and sixth most prolific athlete in the nation to achieve 20 goals in a single year. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year, Morgan was also an FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan played a role in helping the United States win the title at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She was selected for the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
