Aspen Ladd's combat sport journey started at the age of 14. She was trained in boxing, kickboxing wrestling, and BJJ. She made her amateur debut at age 18, at WCFC against Jaimee Nievera. Ladd was able to take down three opponents within a row in Ultimate Reno Combat. All of her opponents were finished within the first minute. Then, she went to WCFC to win again, beating Leslie Rodriguez in a unanimous decision. Aspen had already defeated Silvia Baeghian as well as Maddy Simmons, before taking the fight to Cynthia Calvillo. Cynthia defeated Aspen and defeated her in a unanimous decision, putting an ominous mark on her record as an amateur. Ladd bounced back from defeat in the final by beating Roma Pawelek in Tuff-N'-Uff, making her record 8-1.
